Tethys Petroleum (TPL) ist an der Toronto Stock Exchange in Kanada notiert und an der KASE in Kasachstan. Es konzentriert sich auf die reichesten Sedimentbecken in Zentralasien, in denen einige der größten Ölreserven und Gasfelder der Welt zu finden sind. Sie sind auch in der Nähe von China. TPL hat Interesse an 5 Projekten in 3 Ländern erworben. Diese Projekten umfassen zwei, die in der Explorations-Phase sind, zwei die in der Entwicklungs/Produktions-Phase sind und ein Projekt das in der Neugestaltung / Produktions-Phase ist.
TPL wird in erster Linie als Explorationsunternehmen betrachtet, aber das Unternehmen hat Reserven von vermutlich 13,7 Mio. BOE (Barrel Öl-Äquivalent) . Dies wird genutzt, um kurzfristige "Cash-Flow" zu bieten, weil TPL eine Abnahme-Vereinbarung (Offtake-Agreement) an der Stelle hat. Im Bereich Exploration hat TPL mehr als 1,5 Mrd BOE und viel versprechende Rechte an rund 43.000 Quadratkilometer Land.

Total SA (FP) and China National Petroleum Corp. agreed to join Tethys Petroleum Ltd. (TPL), an explorer focusing on Central Asia, to search for oil and gas in Tajikistan. Tethys shares jumped.
Total and China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Corp., a unit of CNPC, will each hold a third of the Bokhtar project, Tethys said today in a statement. The new partners will pay about $60 million to Tethys to refund about two-thirds of historical costs and will carry some of its future spending....
