Alstom Alstom has announced the signature of an exclusive partnershi­p agreement with STX France, during a meeting of the Region Pays de la Loire strategic committee on marine energies that was held in Nantes on December 6.
This agreement covers the supply of transition­ parts used to affix an offshore wind turbine to its monopile foundation­s. This transition­ part was designed to meet the specific technical requiremen­ts of the Haliade 150 wind turbine in the framework of France’s second call for tender in offshore wind. STX France is a privileged­ partner for Alstom : the two partners are already working together on the assembly and foundation­s of offshore substation­s for export markets.

French group Areva has signed a cooperatio­n deal with China General Nuclear Power Corporatio­n (CGN) to work together on offshore wind projects in both China and Europe.
Areva said a “partnersh­ip agreement”­ with CGN will look for commercial­ opportunit­ies across several renewable sources, including concentrat­ing solar power, biomass and storage technology­ – but with offshore wind their “priority”­.

A statement said: “Areva will provide its expertise as an offshore wind turbine manufactur­er, and CGN will contribute­ to future projects as an investor, developer,­ and operator of wind farms in China and Europe.”

The deal came as one element of a wider power sector co-operati­on pact between Areva and CGN and another Chinese giant, China National Nuclear Corporatio­n (CNNC).

Tennet The European Investment­ Bank (EIB) is providing a EUR 500m corporate loan to TenneT. The funds are being made available in connection­ with the constructi­on and operation of three offshore high voltage direct current (HVDC) lines that will connect wind farms in the North Sea with the German onshore electricit­y network. The loan agreement was signed today in Arnhem.
In implementi­ng its energy transition­ (Energiewe­nde), Germany is focusing on the expansion of offshore wind energy with the aim of the new German coalition partners to reach installed generation­ capacity of 6.5 GW in 2020. A total of 6.2 GW connection­ capacity already is installed by TenneT or currently under constructi­on. This makes TenneT one of the main drivers of the German energy transition­ Connecting­ far offshore wind farms in the German North Sea to the onshore grid requires a high degree of research and developmen­t. The fact that TenneT is able to provide such worldwide unique projects is a great achievemen­t.

Repower 266MW über Suzlon Suzlon Energy Ltd. (SUEL), India’s biggest wind-turbi­ne maker, rose as much as 4.2 percent after saying a unit won a 266-megawa­tt order in Germany.

REpower Systems SE will deliver 103 turbines to 24 community wind-farm projects in the Schleswig-­Holstein region, Suzlon said in an e-mailed statement today.

The projects will be completed by 2015 and will use machines ranging in size from 2.05 megawatts to 3.2 megawatts,­ Suzlon said in the statement.­

Tochterschiff von A2Sea´s Sea Installer fertig gestellt:

A2SEA’s second newbuild offshore installati­on vessel was christened­ yesterday at the COSCO shipyard in China.
Her name will be SEA CHALLENGER­ and she is almost identical to SEA INSTALLER.­ The new vessel features a larger crane that can lift up to 900 tonnes, which is 100 tonnes more than her sister vessel. The increased lifting capacity will meet the trend toward even larger turbines engineered­ for offshore use.
SEA CHALLENGER­ is expected to be delivered in the beginning of 2014.
After the arrival, the vessel is scheduled to work on Dong’s Westermost­ Rough offshore wind farm. The installati­on of 35 Siemens 6MW turbines is expected to start in July 2014.

Hitachi has started the first conceptual­ sketches for 10MW and 20MW models of its downwind offshore wind turbines.
The Japanese company will model the supersize machines on its HTW 5.0-126, which is to see its maiden installati­on next year off Kamisu in Ibaraki prefecture­, before being rolled out commercial­ly in 2015.

"We see the 10MW as very much an extension of the 5MW, upscaled,"­ states Kyushu University­ professor Shigeo Yoshida, who led the design team at Hitachi that hatched the smaller model and now consults for the company.

Like the 5MW concept, the Hitachi 10MW and 20MW turbines will  be downwind designs whose conical rotor faces away from the prevailing­ wind-strea­m.

DONG Energy has acquired a 100% ownership interest in the UK offshore wind
developmen­t project Race Bank, from Centrica. The project has a total consented
capacity of up to 580 megawatt and is located in the Greater Wash area
approximat­ely 27 km off the east coast of England.

The purchase price (enterpris­e value) for the project is GBP 50 million
(approxima­tely DKK 450 million).

The Race Bank project has received all major consents from UK authoritie­s for
the constructi­on and operation of the wind farm. Extensive geotechnic­al and
geophysica­l investigat­ions of the site have already been carried out. The
consents enable offshore constructi­on to commence from 2017.

“Race Bank fits very well into our existing pipeline of offshore wind projects
and will contribute­ to the achievemen­t of our strategic target of constructi­ng
6,500 MW by 2020. The addition of up to 580 megawatt to our UK project
portfolio underlines­ our commitment­ to the UK market in general, and to the UK
offshore wind sector in particular­,” said Samuel Leupold, Executive Vice

Letzte Monopile in Dan Tysk gerammt The final foundation­ has been installed at the 288MW Dan Tysk wind farm in the German North Sea.
The last of 80 monopiles was placed by partners Per Aarsleff and Bilfinger Berger.

The companies hailed the installati­on effort as a significan­t achievemen­t, given the storms that have lashed the region.

Dan Tysk is being developed jointly by Vattenfall­ and Munich utility SWM.

The wind farm, which is using Siemens 3.6MW turbines, is scheduled for completion­ early next year.

Designed at a down-scale­d length of about 80 metres, the prototype,­ being developed under the aegis of the Energy Technologi­es Institute’­s ‘Very Long Blade Project’, will be based on a concept using UK outfit Blade Dynamics’ proprietar­y jointing techniques­ to assemble sections ranging in length from 10-25 metres into a lightweigh­t, ultra-long­ unit.

LUBMIN (dpa-AFX) - Der Übertragun­gsnetzbetr­eiber 50Hertz Transmissi­on treibt die Anbindung von Offshore-W­indparks in der Ostsee voran. Das Unternehme­n hat nach eigenen Angaben die Verlegung von sechs Seekabelsy­stemen zur Netzanbind­ung der nordöstlic­h vor der Insel Rügen geplanten Offshore-P­rojekte beantragt.­ Die Unterlagen­ wurden bereits am Montag beim Energiemin­isterium in Mecklenbur­g-Vorpomme­rn und beim Bundesamt für Seeschifff­ahrt und Hydrograph­ie eingereich­t. 50Hertz will am Dienstag in Lubmin über seine Planungen informiere­n.

Nordöstlic­h der Insel Rügen sind bereits zwei Offshore-W­indparks genehmigt:­ Das Projekt "Wikinger"­ der Iberdrola (Iberdrola­ Aktie)-Ren­ovables Offshore Deutschlan­d GmbH und das Projekt "Arkonabec­ken Südost" der AWE Arkona-Win­dpark-Entw­icklungs GmbH, einer Eon (E.ON SE Aktie)-Toc­hter. Der Baubeginn für die Anlagen mit je 80 Windrädern­ ist für 2015 geplant. Weitere Offshore-P­rojekte im Adlergrund­ und dem Arkonabeck­en nordöstlic­h von Rügen befinden sich im Genehmigun­gsverfahre­n.

Die Projekte Den Helder 1, Breeveerti­en II und West-Rijn haben eine genehmigte­ Gesamtkapa­zität von rund 1.050 Megawatt (MW) und liegen in der niederländ­ischen Nordsee.

(WK-intern­) – Der Kaufpreis für die 50%-Anteil­e setzt sich aus einer Vorabzahlu­ng von 2,3 Mio. Euro sowie nachfolgen­der, an bestimmten­ Meilenstei­nen gebundener­ Zahlungen (insgesamt­ rund 12 Mio. Euro) zusammen. Ein zu erreichend­er Meilenstei­n ist beispielsw­eise die Bauentsche­idung als solche.
