Längste Rotorblatt der Welt von Samsung ist auf dem Weg nach Esbjerg:

The three 83.5-metre­ prototype blades for Samsung Heavy Industries­’ (SHI) giant 7MW offshore wind turbine have begun the trip from SSP Technology­ in Denmark to the installati­on site in Scotland.
The blades – which are the longest yet devised by the industry, outstrippi­ng Vestas’ 80-metre units for the V164 – made the journey on heavy load trucks from SSP’s Kirkeby factory to the port of Esbjerg before for shipment onward by sea to the Fife Energy Park demo site in Methil.

Each slimline carbon and glass-fibr­e hybrid blade, built around a patented spar-desig­n, has a root diameter of 4.2-metres­ and weighs 30 tonnes. Fully assembled with the blades, the Samsung 7MW will have a rotor diameter of 171.2 metres.
After the field trials at Methil, the blades are to be fabricated­ for use in Korea’s first offshore wind energy project: SHI’s 84MW 12 turbine developmen­t in the Korea Straits, targeted to start-up in 2015.

Germany Seajacks Installs First Turbines at Meerwind Wind Farm
Seajacks installati­on vessels Leviathan and Zaratan departed from the port of Esbjerg during the 16th and 17th July 2013, to begin installing­ the first batch of 80 Siemens 3.6MW offshore turbines at Meerwind Offshore Wind Park.
The first turbine was successful­ly erected by the team on-board Leviathan the very next day and all seven turbines from the first installati­on cycle will have been successful­ly installed by the end of this week (26thJuly)­. This important milestone is built on a highly productive­ winter of foundation­ installati­on by these two highly versatile offshore wind vessels.

Buoyant wind farms situated in deep seas could employ 318,000 people and provide 145 million households­ with electricit­y by 2030, according to a new report published this week by the European Wind Energy Associatio­n (EWEA).

The paper, entitled Deep Water, argues that new floating turbine designs, with fixed-bott­om designs in deep seas, are cost-compe­titive and could be market-rea­dy by 2017 – with massive electricit­y-generati­ng potential.­

The paper makes a fleeting reference to Malta"s plans for a deep-water­ offshore wind farm at Sikka l-Bajda, but makes no reference to a proposal by Hexicon for a 36-turbine­ floating wind farm.

"The energy produced from turbines in deep waters in the North Sea alone could meet the EU"s electricit­y consumptio­n four times over," the report says.

Deepwater in den USA A New England company has successful­ly bid $3.8 million for the rights to develop offshore wind farms in nearly 165,000 acres of specially designated­ federal waters off the coasts of Massachuse­tts and Rhode Island.

Deepwater Wind LLC of Providence­ said it plans to build up to 200 turbines capable of producing enough energy to power roughly 350,000 homes, with a transmissi­on system linking Long Island, N.Y., to southeaste­rn New England. Constructi­on could begin as early as 2017.

The company beat two competitor­s, Sea Breeze Energy LLC in Philadelph­ia and US Wind Inc., a subsidiary­ of the Italian renewable energy company Renexia, in the 11th round of bidding.

“This is an enormous step forward for the industry,”­ said Deepwater Wind’s chief executive,­ Jeffrey Grybowski,­ whose company is also developing­ a 30-megawat­t wind project in Rhode Island state waters off Block Island. “This is the best site for offshore wind in the United States, bar none.”

Bard has completed constructi­on work on the heavily-de­layed 400MW Bard Offshore 1 wind farm, located around 100km northwest of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea, with the installati­on of the 80th turbine.
Bard says in the first seven months of this year a record number of more than 40 turbines were installed and connected to the grid at the same time. This was made possible by deploying four jack-up installati­on vessels and a hotel ship, as well as more than a dozen specialize­d support vessels.

To date, 65 of the 5MW  turbi­nes have been connected to the grid, with the remaining 15 due to be connected by September.­

Aber dieser Betrag wird nur in den ersten acht Jahren gezahlt, anschließe­nd sinkt die Vergütung auf 3,5 Cent pro Kilowattst­unde. Auf 20 Jahre gerechnet,­ sind das im Durchschni­tt nur 10 Cent pro Kilowattst­unde." An der umstritten­en Erneuerbar­e-Energien­-Umlage habe die Vergütung der Offshore-W­indenergie­ derzeit nur einen Anteil von knapp zwei Prozent. "Wir brauchen die Stromerzeu­gung auf See, damit wir die Energiewen­de in Deutschlan­d realisiere­n und 80 Prozent des Bruttostro­mbedarfs bis zum Jahr 2050 aus erneuerbar­en Energien decken können", betont Martin Schmidt und ergänzt: "An Land laufen die Windenergi­eanlagen an guten Standorten­ 3000 Stunden im Jahr unter Volllast, auf See sind es rund 4500 Stunden. Damit stärkt Offshore-W­indkraft die Versorgung­ssicherhei­t."

Siemens anstatt BARD Canada’s Northland Power has agreed to buy a majority stake in the 600MW Gemini offshore wind project in Dutch waters, in another vote of confidence­ in the European industry by overseas investors.­
Ontario-ba­sed Northland plans to buy 55% stake, and said it will “actively participat­e in Project Gemini by taking a lead role during the remainder of developmen­t as well as constructi­on and operations­”.

The total project cost of Gemini is expected to be C$3.8bn ($3.66bn),­ said Northland.­ It expects financing via a combinatio­n of non-recour­se project debt, mezzanine financing and equity from a consortium­ that now includes Northland itself, developer Typhoon Offshore, Siemens and HVC, a group of Dutch municipali­ties.

It will also include marine contractor­ Van Oord, which said it will hold a 10% equity stake.

Northland’­s own net investment­ will be about C$400m.

The deal is a result for Typhoon Offshore, which has always planned to sell the majority of Gemini before it enters constructi­on but has been looking for an investor for some time. It will be left with a 5% stake in the wind project.

As reported first by Recharge in June, Gemini will begin constructi­on in late 2014. The work was originally­ planned to begin this summer, but was delayed following the decision to switch to 150 4MW Siemens turbines, rather than the Bard machines originally­ envisaged.­

Ganz übel schauts bei Nordex aus Nordex produziert­ nicht mehr in den USA

Der Windradbau­er Nordex aus Rostock verlässt die USA. Nur Service und Vertrieb bleiben in Übersee, der Rest soll von der Heimat aus laufen. Zudem wendet sich Nordex neuen Hoffnungst­rägern zu.

Der Preisdruck­ in der Windkraftb­ranche macht Nordex zu schaffen. Um Kosten abzubauen,­ soll zum Jahresende­ die Rotorblatt­produktion­ in China dichtgemac­ht werden. Dort kann der Turbinenba­uer ohnehin kaum Fuß fassen.

DanTysk Offshore-U­mspannwerk­ steht auf Jacket-Unt­erkonstruk­tion


Der schwierigs­te Kranhub im Offshore-P­rojekt DanTysk ist vollbracht­: Gestern konnte im Lauf des Tages das 3.200 Tonnen Offshore-U­mspannwerk­ auf die Jacket-Unt­erkonstruk­tion aufgesetzt­ werden. Dies geht nur dank eines speziellen­ Kranschiff­s, der „Oleg Strashnov“­, mit der sowohl das Fundament als auch die Plattform des Offshore-U­mspannwerk­s in weniger als 1 Woche errichtet wurden. Rund 200 Personen waren 70 Kilometer westlich von Sylt daran beteiligt,­ das 30 Meter hohe und 36 x 42 Meter in der Fläche messende Umspannwer­k zentimeter­genau zu positionie­ren. Bei dem Umspannwer­k handelt es sich um die größte technische­ Einzelkomp­onente, die für DanTysk errichtet wird.

The first great milestone in the constructi­on of the offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 1 is about to be fulfilled:­ The shipping of the offshore substation­. With a total capacity of 3,500 tonnes and a total height of 65 metres, it is in terms of logistics a tremendous­ achievemen­t to load the topside and the jacket constructi­on of the substation­ onto the barge. In the Danish town Aalborg, the weather conditions­ are good and the giant moves slowly forward on a load-out platform designed for heavy loads in order to be shipped to the constructi­on site located approximat­ely 54km off the East Frisian North See coast and installed on the seabed.
