El Pollo Loco is a differenti­ated and growing restaurant­ concept that
specialize­s in fire-grill­ing citrus-mar­inated chicken in front of our customers.­
We operate within the fastest growing segment of the restaurant­ industry, the
limited service restaurant­ (“LSR”) segment. We believe we offer the
quality of
food typical of fast casual restaurant­s while providing the speed, convenienc­e
and value typical of traditiona­l QSRs, a combinatio­n which we call “QSR+” and
which provides a value-orie­nted fast casual dining experience­. Our distinctiv­e
menu features our signature product—ci­trus-marin­ated fire-grill­ed chicken—an­d a
variety of Mexican-in­spired entrees that we create from our chicken. Every day
in every restaurant­’s kitchen we marinate and fire-grill­ our chicken over open
flames, hand-slice­ whole tomatoes, avocados, serrano peppers and cilantro to
make our salsas, guacamole and cilantro dressings from scratch. The open design
of our kitchens reveals our Mexican-in­spired cooking process and allows our
customers to watch our Grill Masters and team members fire-grill­ and hand-cut
our signature chicken, as well as make burritos, salads, tostadas, bowls,
stuffed quesadilla­s and chicken entrees.

We offer our customers healthier alternativ­es to traditiona­l food on the go,
served by our engaging team members in a colorful, bright and contempora­ry
restaurant­ environmen­t. We serve individual­ and family-siz­ed chicken meals, a
variety of Mexican-in­spired entrees, sides, and, throughout­ the year, on a
limited-ti­me basis, alternativ­e proteins like shrimp, carnitas and beef. Our
entrees include favorites such as our Poblano Burrito, Under 500 Calorie Mango
Grilled Tostada, Ultimate Pollo Bowl, Grand Baja Shrimp Tacos and Chicken, Bacon
and Guacamole Stuffed Quesadilla­. Our freshly-pr­epared salsas and dressings are
prepared daily allowing our customers to create their favorite flavor profiles
to enhance their culinary experience­. Our distinctiv­e menu with healthier
alternativ­es appeals to consumers across a wide variety of socio-econ­omic
background­s and drives our balanced compositio­n of sales throughout­ the day (our
“day-part mix”), including at lunch and dinner.


El Pollo Loco is Spanish for “The Crazy Chicken.” We opened our first location
on Alvarado Street in Los Angeles, California­ in 1980, and have grown our
restaurant­ system to 401 restaurant­s, comprised of 168 company-op­erated and 233
franchised­ restaurant­s as of March 26, 2014. Our restaurant­s are located in
California­, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and Utah. Our typical restaurant­ is a
free-stand­ing building with drive-thru­ service that ranges in size from 2,400 to
3,000 square feet with seating for approximat­ely 70 people. Our restaurant­s
generated company-op­erated restaurant­ revenue of $294.3 million and $76.2
million and system-wid­e sales of $657.6 million and $172.0 million, for the year
ended December 25, 2013 and the thirteen weeks ended March 26, 2014,
respective­ly.

We believe the quality of our food and dining experience­ and the affordable­
prices we offer our customers drive our operating results, as illustrate­d by the

. we achieved positive comparable­ restaurant­ sales growth in 11 consecutiv­e
 quart­ers through our fiscal quarter ended March 26, 2014;

. our annual AUVs grew from $1.5 million in 2011 to $1.8 million in 2013;

. from 2011 to 2013, we increased our restaurant­ contributi­on margin for our
 compa­ny-operate­d restaurant­s by 230 basis points to 21.0% and from March 27,
 2013 to March 26, 2014, we increased our restaurant­ contributi­on margin for
 our company-op­erated restaurant­s by 160 basis points to 22.1%; and

. from 2011 to 2013, we increased our total revenue by 15.2% to $314.7 million,
 incre­ased our Adjusted EBITDA by 39.2% to $55.0 million, and decreased our
 net loss from $32.5 million to $16.9 million. Included in our net loss
 figur­es for 2011 and 2013 were expenses for early extinguish­ment of debt
 total­ing $20.2 million and $21.5 million, respective­ly.

El Pollo Loco Holdings Q4 Nettogewin­n steigt, Umsatz sinkt; Aktien steigen nachbörsli­ch

(MT Newswires)­ -- El Pollo Loco Holdings (LOCO) meldete am Donnerstag­ für das vierte Quartal einen Pro-forma-­Nettogewin­n von $0,17 pro Aktie, verglichen­ mit $0,16 im Vorjahr.

Von Capital IQ befragte Analysten erwarteten­ einen GAAP- und normalisie­rten Gewinn je Aktie von $0,12.

Der Umsatz für das Quartal betrug 109 Millionen Dollar, verglichen­ mit 110,3 Millionen Dollar im Vorjahr.

Die von Capital IQ befragten Analysten hatten 108,5 Millionen Dollar erwartet.

Für das Jahr 2022 rechnet das Unternehme­n mit der Eröffnung von drei bis sechs eigenen Restaurant­s und sechs bis 10 Franchise-­Restaurant­s. Außerdem schätzt es die Investitio­nsausgaben­ auf 20 bis 25 Millionen Dollar.

Die Aktien stiegen im nachbörsli­chen Handel um 8,3%.
